This blog is an account of the selection process for the Samsung Parichay Internship and my experience. The internship was offered at Samsung Research Institute, Bangalore (SRIB).
Samsung Parichay is a program aimed at building a long-term association between Samsung Research Bangalore and academia. This is an opportunity for students to showcase their coding skills and get an opportunity to intern at SRI Bangalore after their second year. The internship experience will expose students to important technology trends and will give them a chance to work on some of the cutting-edge technologies.
In the month of April, the Placement and Training Cell of our college sent out a Google form requesting basic details for the Samsung Parichay Internship. Unaware of what the future beholds, I filled in the form and continued practicing data structures and algorithms.
Online Assessments
In the month of April, we had the first screening test. I was able to solve all the questions. After three days, I received a mail stating that I am through to the second round. Round 2 was similar to Round 1, I was able to solve all the questions.
My observations :
- Questions were of medium/easy difficulty level
- Being thorough with all data structures and generic algorithms is important

Internship Experience
The internship was to be conducted virtually owing to COVID-19. I worked in a team of 4 under the Visual Understanding team. Considering it was my first corporate experience, I was nervous and anxious. But with time, got used to the environment.
My project was a web-based tool to facilitate the annotation and visualization of images and videos. After understanding the requirements and the exact expectation, we started working on it. My team had 4 mentors, who met with us every alternate day. In the end, we gave a presentation of the tool developed over the 2-month period. We received a lot of appreciation :))
It was a great experience overall, I can confidently say that this internship has led to my professional and personal growth!
